Finalmente, con un ritardo esegerato, sono riuscito a vedere l'ultima puntata di Lost. Puntata che, essendo incentrata su Desmond, non poteva che essere rivelatrice.
In questa puntata i riferimenti a penne e matite abbondano, ma andiamo con ordine.
Anzitutto viene fatto riferimento all'episodio della morte di Charlie, e ci viene mostrata nuovamente la frase "Not Penny's Boat", che come sappiamo racchiude un riferimento nascosto al dualismo Penny/Pen...
Il fatto che questa frase ci venga mostrata anche nella realtà alternativa sottolinea la sua importanza.

In seguito all'incidente, Desmond viene portato in ospedale per dei controlli. La dottoressa che lo interroga scrive il referto con una penna, ma sulla sua scrivania sono presenti anche delle matite.

È lecito chiedersi il perchè di questa anomalia.

La risposta è senza dubbio dovuta al fatto che, come sappiamo, per Desmond le normali regole non valgono.

Per lui le due realtà sono una sola ed è forse per questo che si trova a contatto sia con le penne che con le matite.

Un altro elemento estremamente importante è la rivelazione di Daniel Farad... pardon... Widmore che ci mostra il quadreno su cui ha scritto le sue formule. Le formule sono scritte a penna!!!

Da un musicista che scrive per la prima volta delle complicate formule di fisica ci si aspetterebbe che usi una matita, per il timore di sbagliare,ma Dan no, lui usa una penna. Pazzesco, no?
